On Jan. 23, nearly 400 members and employees of The Polo Club in Boca Raton came together for the second Polo Feeds event. They gathered food supplies and packed 180,360 meals for local Palm Beach County residents suffering from food insecurity.

Over 180,000 people are at risk of being food insecure in Palm Beach County, said Jamie Kendall, the CEO of Palm Beach County Food Bank for 12 News in April 2022. During the 2021-2022 fiscal year, the Palm Beach County Food Bank distributed 11.4 million pounds of food – equal to 9.5 million meals – to 200,000 hungry residents in Palm Beach County monthly.

This year, the Polo Club Community Relations Committee raised nearly $60,000 from the Polo Community to purchase nearly 20,000 pounds of food and supplies. In less than 24 hours, they packed, boxed and stacked “take-home” meals on pallets for pickup by local food banks, such as Boca Helping Hands, Jacobsen Food Pantry and Feeding South Florida.

Participants contributed and had a good time while making a significant difference for those in need.
