Funding Through Fun

Charity-Affiliated Sporting

Sports serve as a reminder of becoming stronger through consistent effort and teamwork. That is why Men Giving Back SPBC and the Boca West Country Club have united for the second annual “Backyard Battle,” a sporting event with proceeds supporting local charities.

The event will take place Feb. 1 and includes axe throwing, golf, cornhole and ping pong. It will be held outside at the Golf and Activities Center featuring live music, specialty dishes, cocktails, beer and wine.

The charitable focus is on education, children, food stability and mental health services, with the goal to provide $1,000,000 in grants per year through 250 members. One hundred percent of the contributions go directly to nonprofits.

Conceived in Feb. 2020, Men Giving Back started with a group of motivated men with the mission to recruit like-minded individuals and develop a methodology to raise funds and distribute them to deserving causes.

Grant Recipients for 2021 include Best Foot Forward Foundation, Connected Warriors, Kindness Matters 365, Roots and Wings, Sweet Dream Makers and Delray Beach’s Milagro Center.

With “Backyard Battle,” the organization continues its mission of men doing good by collectively funding grants to nonprofits in South Palm Beach County. Those who participate have 100 percent of their money going towards charity.

People may participate in all the sports, or pick one activity or simply walk around and enjoy the amenities available. “Backyard Battle” is an event focusing on fun, teamwork and charity.
