With Mother’s Day right around the corner (Sunday, May 9th for those living under a rock) you could relive childhood moments of serving her burnt toast and overcooked eggs (she’ll say she loves them, because, well, she’s Mom) or better yet, treat her to an indulgent brunch. Consider choosing a restaurant in Miami and pairing it with a visit to the Vizcaya Gardens, Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden or the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). Here are some of our favorite brunch spots in the 305 — be sure to make a reservation if you’re headed there on Mom’s special day.

This Coconut Grove staple has been a favorite among locals for years. Owner/Chef Michael Beltran dazzles diners with dishes rooted in his Cuban/American heritage yet filtered through Beltran’s French culinary training. Brunch favorites include the Frita Benedict (and ode to the Cuban hamburger called “Frita”), Pork y Harina (pulled pork, spicy tomato and poached egg), Passionfruit French Toast and the Cast Iron Pancake served with coffee crumble and guava. Bottomless mimosas, bloody marys and sangria are available as well.

Casa Isola Osteria

The unpretentious osteria in Sunset Harbour is a newcomer helmed by Chefs Jose Mendín and Santo Angello that provides no-frills, authentic Italian cuisine. Brunch includes Tortellini Al Brodo, a comforting porcini broth with dumplings, Burrata Panzanella, Eggs Benedict With Prosciutto Bread And Pancetta and Eggs In Purgatory — two eggs cooked in spicy tomato sauce served with toasted bread. Have a sweet tooth? No problem! There’s Canoli French Toast and Maria’s Weekly Italian-Inspired Pastries.

Jaya At The Setai

Set inside The Setai — a sleek, modern hotel with one of the most beautiful floral arrangements in town — Jaya, which means “victory” in Sanskrit, offers a Jazz Brunch featuring an over-the-top buffet, served by restaurant staff, following COVID-19 safety guidelines. Under Executive Chef Vijayudu Veena, the menu covers an impressive array of culinary flavors from Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Indian China and Japan. Le Jardinier

Located in the heart of the Miami Design District, this modern eatery with white and emerald green accents feels as if it should be gracing the cover of Architectural Digest. The food, as the name implies, is vegetable-forward, but carnivores, don’t let this scare you away. Under the expert hand of Michelin-starred chef Alain Verzeroli, brunch hits like Ora King Salmon Rillette — served on country bread with avocado mousse, chilies and fried capers and Caramelized Onion And Mushroom Quiche, with smoked gouda and rainbow chards, will have you smitten at the first bite. Those headed there on Mother’s Day will be privy to a 3-course special prix fix menu featuring dishes like Cold Pea Velouté With Parmesan Mousse, Grilled Asparagus and Pistachio and Maine Lobster with Poached Egg and Hollandaise.

Lightkeepers

Housed in the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, the coastal-inspired restaurant is named as an homage to the lighthouse keepers who watched over Key Biscayne’s historic Cape Florida Lighthouse in the 1800s. The classy yet casual restaurant is an ideal spot for mothers craving an ocean view paired with excellent food. Dishes like the Lobster Mac-N-Cheese and the Crispy Crab Cake with Florida Citrus and Cajun Aioli are a must for seafood lovers while those with a sweet tooth will enjoy the Brioche French Toast With Berry Compote And Cherry Preserve Butter. Mayami Mexicantina

This Mexican hotspot is a feast for the eyes and the belly. Set in a large and beautiful space that includes an expansive center courtyard, the restaurant is a blend of Mayan culture and Miami party vibe. Enjoy traditional Mexican breakfasts like Huevos Rancheros and Vuelva A La Vida along with classic brunch favorites like Cinnamon Roll French Toast and Steak and Eggs.

Red South Beach

Owner/Chef Peter Vauthy is the mastermind behind this contemporary, chic steakhouse which recently relocated to a new location boasting an expansive patio. And while it’s true that this spot is a dream come true for carnivores, there’s plenty of other delectable choices for those opting out of red meat. For brunch, the eatery offers a feast that includes Wagyu Dumplings, Blue Crab Raviolis with Crab Cream, Truffle Pasta, Oysters on the Half Shell with Bloody Mary Mignonette, Filet Oscar Benedicts (filet medallions on brioche with poached eggs and crab béarnaise sauce), Lobster Pot Pie with Cognac Cream and Japanese Pancakes with Nutella and Fresh Fruit. There are also 1-ounce flights of caviar (Osetra, Royal Osetra and Beluga) to make the meal even more memorable.

Rosie’s at the Copper Door B&B

When Jamila Ross and Akino West had to close down their Bed and Breakfast because of the COVID-19 pandemic, they opened Rosie’s pop-up — serving Southern-style breakfast through a takeout window —to help pay the bills. Word got out and crowds flocked to the historic neighborhood of Overtown where dishes like Shrimp & Grits, made with stone-ground grits, roasted tomato, fennel and sausage and Chicken and Biscuits, which comes with homemade pickles, were creating quite the buzz. Today, Rosie’s has expanded to a peaceful patio and serves popular hits like Pull Pork Benedict, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and Orange Honey Cinnamon Bun on vintage dinnerware. For Mother’s Day, they’ll be featuring a special menu that includes Rosemary Biscuits, Coconut Chia Seed Pudding, Seafood Stew, Pastrami Hash and Strawberry Buttermilk Cobbler.

Sugar Factory

If Mom has a penchant for sweets, rubber duckies or enormous, bubbling drinks, then this is the spot to go. Set on iconic Ocean Drive, this indulgent restaurant has a hearty selection of fun, Instagramable items. Start with the drinks (of which there is a generous and colorful selection) like the Smoking Mimosa Goblet, the Sour Apple Lolly Martini, boasting a Pop Rocks rim and lollipop in the glass or the Build-Your-Own Bloody Marys. Brunch must-haves include the Insane Double Stack Rainbow Pancakes — fluffy, colorful rainbow pancakes served with warm maple syrup, powdered sugar, butter as well as chocolate chips, gummy bears, strawberries and whipped cream with rainbow sprinkles and the signature Sugar Factory rubber duckie. Swan

Giving “Pretty in Pink” a whole new meaning, this adorable restaurant is the brainchild of hospitality guru David Grutman and music legend Pharell Williams. American interior designer Ken Fulk is responsible for making this one of the prettiest restaurants in town, from the pastel pink hues to the cream-colored furniture. There’s also a gorgeous patio to enjoy brunch favorites like King Crab Benedict or the popular El Bagel Breakfast Sandwich al fresco.
