One participant, Angelina Ning, is no stranger to South Florida. A junior at American Heritage School, she currently studies with Professor Kevin Kenner, Frost Chopin Academy and Festival Artistic Director, and the world-renowned Professor Tian Ying of the University of Miami. Ning’s many accolades include first prize in the Ocala Young Artist Competition and the David Dubois Piano Competition. Joining Ning is the Academy’s youngest student, Andrew Sijie Li, who, at 13, has already performed in China, Canada, France and Italy, and has received international prizes.

The skilled musicians will learn from a myriad of teachers at the academy including former laureates of the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw Edward Aue and Margarita Shevchenko. One of America’s most beloved piano teachers from the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute, Robert McDonald, will offer Chopin masterclasses.

According to Kenner, “This is an exceptional opportunity not only for those who love the music of Chopin, but those also interested in observing the process as these young musicians explore the mystery of a fine Chopin interpretation with expert advice from some of the world’s most respected Chopin specialists.”

The Chopin Foundation was established in 1977 as a nonprofit to help young pianists develop their careers and make classical music accessible for all. Recitals and webinars connected to the event are free and will take place virtually. This year’s students and Chopin specialists will be participating from various locations around the world.
