It has been 15 years since the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County opened its doors to the public and to celebrate they will be hosting a 15th Anniversary Reunion Gala this Saturday, May 22.

Committed to connecting all people to the arts, the center typically thrives with year-round live performances with artists from around the globe. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic changed all that, with the center having to halt live events in order to keep guests, artists and staff safe. While online programs were available throughout this turbulent time, experiencing a performance live holds a different value entirely.

“The exhilaration from music when heard live, the impact of beautiful artwork when experienced in person and the excitement of gathering with friends to celebrate, is even more significant and special this year,” said Honorary Chair and Center Benefactor Adrienne Arsht in a press release.

The 15th Anniversary Reunion Gala will begin on the Ziff Ballet Opera House stage with a special viewing of “Lasting Impressions: The 3D LED Experience,” a fully immersive installation of sight and sound transporting viewers to 100 of the most recognizable masterpieces (Monet, Van Gogh, Seurat and Degas are just a sampling), set to classical music from Debussy, Ravel and more. Dinner will follow inside the Knight Concert Hall along with a live performance by Afro-Cuban jazz legend Chucho Valdés and his quartet. The event promises to be sprinkled with surprises along the way and the Arsht Center affirms it has implemented new measures to ensure safety and comfort for all throughout the evening.

“This year’s Gala will be extra special as we come together once again to celebrate the performing arts after a really challenging year,” said Tony Argiz, Arsht Center Foundation Board Chair in a press release. “The arts play an important role in our lives and foster remarkable shared human experiences. An inspiring performance can individually touch our hearts, expand our minds, feed our souls; but the human connection forged when we experience it together binds and strengthens the fabric of our society. We can’t wait to reunite and welcome back all art lovers and our biggest supporters.

After over a year deprived of live art and music, it is an event much anticipated by all.
