Narrated by Andrew Scarborough of Downton Abbey fame, rich history flows in this single-episode segment. Queen Elizabeth has reigned over England for 68 years to date. At 14, then-princess Elizabeth made her first radio address to the children of the Commonwealth, among them many who were evacuated to escape the threats of World War II. The speech was the beginning of a successful career of supporting the people as she said:

“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.”

In 1953, Queen Elizabeth II was crowned, becoming the British Monarch following the death of her father, King George VI. Queen Elizabeth II has given many notable speeches since her ascension to the throne, including a moving statement at the opening of the Parliament (1960) and noble words about the coronavirus pandemic (2020). Today, Queen Elizabeth II has children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that may follow in her royal footsteps. “The Queen In Her Own Words,” will forever be an emblem of the Queen’s powerful words and extraordinary reign. It expertly examines her speeches through events such as exchanges with world leaders along with her distinguished Christmas addresses.
