Drink Local Beer - Save Wildlife!" That's the motto for the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society's Brew 2 At The Zoo in West Palm Beach on Sept. 22.

The event will feature more than 25 local brewers who will each offer two or three different samples at stations throughout the zoo.

"Since all the beer is brewed within 100 miles of the zoo, this is the lowest carbon footprint beer festival in the Southeast. Plus, local breweries create local jobs. Both important considerations in living sustainably! Also, many craft brewers are very conservation oriented in their daily operation. That's good for you and for wildlife," notes the zoo's website.

The festivities, for those 21 and up only, run from 6-9 p.m., but zoo officials warn: "As with all beer festivals, rare and popular brews seldom make it to last call. We suggest prompt arrival to make sure you get the really good stuff!"

Also on tap: a collectible mug; live music; food; and unusual wildlife, including many highly endangered species. The 23-acre zoo is home to more than 500 animals and the $18 million "George and Harriett Cornell Tropics of the Americas" exhibit, where visitors can catch glimpses of jaguars, giant anteaters, capybara, New World monkeys and a diverse collection of tropical birds. The zoo also has a state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot animal hospital, the $5 million Melvin J. and Claire Levine Animal Care Complex.
