Stronger Together

It's been almost seven months since 17 students and staff were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. But they have not been forgotten.

Since then, members of the Parkland community - and the nation - have rallied to honor the victims and give hope to the survivors. And, on Sept. 21, country music artist Justin Moore will headline a benefit concert hosted by the high school and K&J Entertainment at FAU's Carole & Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium. The event begins at 6 p.m., and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

The MSD Country Strong concert, which will also feature "American Idol" finalist Emily Brooke, will include a beer garden, food trucks and a mechanical bull challenge.

"The concert honors the heroes, the fallen and the survivors of gun violence in our schools. Although our country still faces challenges in preventing these tragedies, #MSD COUNTRYSTRONG offers a unique opportunity for all of us to come together, in solidarity and in support for our youth and our schools," notes FAU's website. "This show promises to be one to remember."

Moore, an Arkansas native who just dropped his fourth studio album, "Kinda Don't Care," has shared the stage with the likes of Hank Williams Jr., Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert and Brantley Gilbert.

Brooke, a Wellington resident and country music artist, recorded her first album at age 13 and was a Top 24 "American Idol" finalist in 2016.

The two singers are at different stages of their lives, but they share a message: Stay strong, MSD. O
