Homage To The Holidays

Tree Lightings To Dazzle In Boca Raton And Delray Beach

by

Boca Raton is ready to usher in the holidays. The city's annual tree lighting kicks off on Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Mizner Park Amphitheater and Mizner Plaza.

Trees at both ends of the plaza will be decked out for the festivities. The event, which runs until 9:30 p.m., will also feature shows by local dance and theater organizations, carnival rides, strolling carolers, photos with Santa Claus and food vendors.

Plus, Delray Beach is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its famous 100-foot Christmas tree. The festivities kick off on Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. at Old School Square with Santa lighting the tree at 7:15 p.m. A month-long celebration follows with ice skating, photos with Santa, mini golf, carousel rides, a Gingerbread House Gift Shop, concerts, a parade and more.

Organizers want visitors to look beyond the bright lights - and help others in need.

"We're going big this season. Help us give back," implores the event's website.

They're asking guests to bring toys, canned goods or monetary donations to the tree lighting or drop them off at the gift shop. Donations will help support local organizations, including Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Palm Beach County Food Bank. O
