A Fruitful Experience

Summer Fruit Festival On Tap At Fruit & Spice Park

by

Summertime just might be the best time to indulge in fruit. The folks at Fruit & Spice Park in Homestead know this and have planned accordingly.

The venue’s Summer Fruit Festival is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 25 at this unique locale which will showcase local agriculture and tropical fruits. “Vendors will be featuring tasty cuisine and rare fruit samplings available to shock your taste buds,” the website promises.

While you’re there, be sure and check out the park’s 37 acres of subtropical paradise featuring more than 500 varieties of exotic fruits, herbs, spices and nuts from around the world; 180 varieties of mangos; 70 varieties of bamboo; 40 varieties of bananas; 15 varieties of jackfruit trees along with other exotic edibles grown and maintained there.

“You are welcome to indulge in some fallen fruit along the way if you know what the fruit is — not everything we have is edible! If you are not sure it is safe to eat, bring it with you to the Welcome Center or ask one of our helpful staff,” notes the website.  There’s also A Midsummer Adventure scheduled for July 9-10 with scavenger hunts, summer fruit sightings and tram tours highlighting what is in season.
