Pompano Beach Jazz Fest Has Dazzling Lineup

Ready for some toe-tapping jazz?

Head for the Pompano Beach Jazz Festival Jan. 28-29 at The Great Lawn at the Beach and Pompano Beach Cultural Center. 

“This two-day world-class jazz festival will feature a robust lineup of performers – from local legends to Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award-winning jazz masters – including a beach opening night concert and all-day and evening concerts at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center,” notes the website. “The festival experiences will include four stages, up-close-and-personal performances, opportunities to meet the artists, food trucks and festival vendors. This jazz festival will deliver an outstanding event featuring great music for the jazz enthusiast and casual fan alike.”

Ten time Grammy Award winner Arutro Sandoval (who performed with John Williams with the Boston Pops and in the Super bowl with Tony Bennett and Patti LaBelle) will kick things off at 8 p.m. Jan. 28 at The Great Lawn on The Beach along with Master of Ceremonies and Grammy Award Winner Nestor Torres and special guest NYC vocalist Ashley Pezzotti.

Musicians including Magela Herrera and Brian Lynch will perform starting at noon Jan. 29 at the ArtsPlaza – the festival will conclude at 8 p.m. with Dee Dee Bridgewater inside the theater. 

Bridgewater, who performed with jazz greats including Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon and Dizzy Gillespie, also won a Tony for her role as Glinda in “The Wiz” in 1975.
