Virtual Tours Showcase Historic Homes

by

Tours of historical homes are always enlightening.

And while they are much more fascinating in person, we’ve discovered a way you can tour 12 of them — right from the comfort of your home.

“Escape the confines of your four walls to delight in interiors that are steeped in history and only a click away,” notes bobvila.com, which describes and lists the homes.

The options range from George Washington’s former home in Virginia, the Mount Vernon Estate, to the secret annex in Amsterdam that sheltered Anne Frank’s family — as well as intricate views of the Mark Twain House and Museum.

“Explore the interior of the High Victorian Gothic home through room-by-room photos or via an immersive, richly annotated 360-degree tour. Whichever approach you choose, you’ll gain an appreciation of the great American writer and the beloved home where he spent his happiest years,” notes the article.

There are also glimpses inside the Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, N.Y., built in 1838 and houses built by architectural genius Frank Lloyd Wright.
