Come Fly Away

Museum Of Discovery And Science Hosts Aviation Adventure

by

The Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale wants you to soar this summer.

To further that mission: The “To Fly” weekends during August. Activities, exhibits, shows, demos and more are on tap during this special event.

“Families will test fizz pop rockets to figure out how real rockets launch into space, learn about the best materials for building planes and rockets, build flying cars at the Mechanical Engineer station and apply Newton’s Laws of Motion with a make-and-take aerodynamic rubber band helicopter,” explains the website.

The To Fly Aviation Hall includes The Hangar, an aviation-themed makerspace, Fly Zone, fully outdoor Physics Science Park, FPL Storm Center and Design! Build! Play! Keva!

Participants can also learn about animals that take flight (think bats and insects), and explore careers in aviation. There’s even a flight-themed film as well as themed movies in the IMAX theater:   “A Beautiful Planet,” “Hubble 3D,” “Wings Over Water” and more.
