Delray Celebrates The Miracle Of Lights

Grand Delray Beach Chanukah Festival And Menorah Lighting’ Returns

by

Every December, Jewish communities worldwide celebrate Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights. This joyous holiday commemorates the victory of the Maccabees (a group of courageous fighters), who rededicated the Holy Temple in Jerusalem during the Second Century B.C., liberating the Hebrew people from the oppressive rule of the Greek empire.

Central to Hanukkah’s celebration is the lighting of the menorah, an eight-branched candelabrum that carries deep historical and religious significance in Judaism. This year, the holiday spans from Dec. 7-15, and to add to the festivities, the city of Delray Beach welcomes locals to celebrate together at its “Grand Delray Beach Chanukah Festival And Menorah Lighting.”

The event is set to take place at the Old School Square Pavilion from 6-8 p.m.

on Dec. 7, on the first night of Hanukkah. Attendees can look forward to a grand menorah lighting, followed by live music, bounce houses, holiday snacks, fresh pizza by The Gifted Crust, crafts, face painting and more.
