Don’t Rain On Her Parade

Jewish Museum of Florida Pays Tribute To Barbra Streisand

by

Hello Gorgeous!

That trademark line from the iconic Barbra Streisand plays in perfectly with the exhibit of the same name at The Jewish Museum of Florida in Miami Beach. A collection of costumes, photos, videos and record album covers a la Streisand will be on display there until April 3.

Streisand — singer, actor, director, humanitarian and more — has made a name for herself since the 60s. An Oscar, Tony and Emmy winner, she has captured the hearts of many generations. She’s been on Broadway, on the big and small screen and everywhere in between.

This exhibit offers an insight into her life.

“With full-blown Brooklyn moxie, the young singer dismissed as too Jewish, too plain, and too obstinate upended the celebrity pantheon by refusing to let anyone rain on her parade,” notes the museum’s website.  “Barbra Streisand was too talented to be ignored. A force of nature, she not only parlayed her vocal prowess and unique style into international stardom; she redefined female celebrity, paving the way for a new generation of women performers — and millions of Jews — to unapologetically be themselves.”
