Spend An Evening With Humorist David Sedaris At Parker Playhouse

by

Anyone who has worked as a department store elf during the holidays has plenty of anecdotes to share.

But no one delivers a punchline quite like New York Times best-selling author, humorist and former elf David Sedaris, who proved his comedic chops during his time on NPR. You can experience his hilarity during An Evening With David Sedaris on Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale. The evening will include a Q&A, a book signing and lots of laughs.

Notes the venue’s website: “With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, Mr. Sedaris has become one of America’s pre-eminent humor writers. The great skill with which he slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness proves that Sedaris is a master of satire and one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today.”

His appearance, no doubt, will include insights from his latest book, “Calypso,” a personal account of the foibles of middle age. (Sedaris turns 63 this month.) Although reading his books – and listening to the Grammy-nominated author on air – is a delight, it pales in comparison to his live shows.

“If you love David Sedaris’ cheerfully misanthropic stories, you might think you know what you’re getting into at his live readings. You’d be wrong,” notes the venue’s website. “To see him read his own work on stage allows his autobiographical narrative to reveal a uniquely personal narrative that will keep you laughing throughout the evening.” O
