Girls Night Out

Join United Way of Broward County’s Women United Celebration

Anniversaries are meant to be celebrated — even if the merriment is a bit different due to the pandemic.

That’s the case for the United Way of Broward County’s Women United, which is holding a socially distanced drive-in April 29 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Oasis parking lot in Hollywood to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of its Magnolia events.

Dubbed “Magnolia After Dark – Engines, Off, Party On,” the fun begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes a raffle, synchronized light show and a keynote speech from Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes (of the gold-medal-winning “Magnificent Seven” team).

“From Olympic gold medalist to Broadway performer, to TV analyst, to president of the Women’s Sports Foundation, Ms. Dawes continues on a path to inspire, motivate and lead, something that our women value and implement into their daily lives,” Mary Beth Albritton, vice president of Major Gifts for United Way of Broward County, said in a press release.

Guests can stay in their cars — which will be spaced six feet apart — to watch the program on the screen or set up chairs outside their cars to listen.

“We are pleased to have event proceeds benefitting those who have been impacted this past year due to the pandemic and those who were in dire need before COVID-19,” event co-chair Nicole Villarroel said in a press release.
