John Cusack Brings A Live Conversation To Broward Center

It’s been 30 years since “Say Anything” became a film sensation – and put actor John Cusack on the map. 

The love story catapulted his career, and he went on to star in hits like “High Fidelity,” “Grosse Point Blank” and “Being John Malkovich.” But fans haven’t forgotten “Say Anything,” which critic Roger Ebert dubbed “one of the best films of the year.” 

 Cusack decided that a trip down memory lane was in order, and he’s now on tour with A Live Conversation With John Cusack And a Screening of “Say Anything,” which stops at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale on July 26 at 7:30 p.m. During a Q&A session, the audience will have the opportunity to quiz the actor on everything from why he almost turned down the role to what really happened during the love scenes. 

For those of you who haven’t seen the gem, here’s a synopsis, from Amazon: “In a charming, critically acclaimed tale of first love, Lloyd (John Cusack), an eternal optimist, seeks to capture the heart of Diane (Ione Skye), an unattainable high-school beauty and straight-A student.”

As for Cusack’s take on the movie? 

“I feel close to Lloyd in ‘Say Anything,’” he said, according to IMDb. “He was like a super-interesting version of me. Only I’m not as good as him. Whatever part of me is romantic and optimistic, I reached into that to play Lloyd.” O
