Laugh A Minute

Dave Chappelle Lightens The Mood At Hard Rock

by

They say laughter is the best medicine.

So, if you want to feel really good, head to Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood Aug. 6 to Aug. 8 at 9 p.m. where comedian Dave Chappelle will be putting on quite a show.

“Recognized as one of the greatest comedians of all time, Chappelle is the 2019 recipient of the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor,” notes the venue’s website.

Although he is a master of the punch line, Chappelle (who you might remember from “The Nutty Professor”) delivers zingers with thought-provoking messages, touching on sensitive and sometimes controversial topics.

He got his start as a teen performing stand-up in nightclubs at 14 and at 19 made his film debut in “Robin Hood: Men in Tights.” Acclaim and fame followed — he won an Emmy and a Grammy.

Recently, he joined Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey to create the podcast “The Midnight Miracle.”

“Making a podcast isn’t the obvious next move for me, but it’s the right one,” Chappelle said. ‘The Midnight Miracle’ gives you a look into how me and my friends process the world around us, and I think it will change the way listeners think of what a podcast can be.”

As for his fame? “I want to tell my jokes. I want to have time with my children. I want to entertain people. And at one point, I’ll walk away from show business. But I don’t want to walk away empty-handed,” he told Esquire.
