New Flair For Delray Affair

The Delray Affair – the largest arts and crafts festival in the Southeast – has lured people from all over the country for more than 50 years.

And, while the popular event changes things up a bit each year, 2020’s version is unlike any other.

The bad news: You can’t stroll along Atlantic Avenue, stop to chat with vendors and take in the sights and sounds of the Delray Beach festival. The good news: You can still buy wares from talented artisans – including acrylic art, ceramics, clothing, jewelry, photography, food, woodwork, sculptures and more – 24/7 through Dec. 25. That’s because the event, like many others, has gone virtual. 

“These are challenging times for the artists who rely on your patronage for their livelihood,” notes a press release.

That includes artists like Board in the Kitchen from South Dakota, which designs cutting boards made from scrap material from countertop manufacturers that was destined for the landfill.

Closer to home is Delray Beach-based Caloosa WaterWear, which designs and manufactures tropical apparel with lightweight performance fabrics.

For those seeking a snack, check out Essential Candy, an all-natural hard candy infused with pure essential oils that’s meant to “soothe the palate and benefit the body,” according to the company’s website.
