Hilarity Ensues As “Mean Girls” Visits Broward Center

Book your seats. And watch your back.

That’s exactly the type of promo we’d expect from the producers of “Mean Girls,” the Broadway sensation that takes the stage at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale March 3-15.

The musical comedy, created by an award-winning team that includes writer-comedian-actress Tina Fey, revolves around a formerly homeschooled girl trying to fit in at her new school, where she finds herself at odds with a trio of mean popular girls.

The play – adapted from the beloved 2004 movie that starred Lindsay Lohan and was written by Fey – has been updated for the times but still packs a punch.

Notes The Chicago Tribune: “‘Mean Girls’ does not play like the boring Twitter feed of a righteous, humor-challenged millennial. It is irreverent and snarky enough to actually be funny.”

Adds Entertainment Weekly: “Diehard fans will be delighted to see that Fey & Co. have made sure all of the movie’s greatest hits get their moment on stage.”

And, in true Hollywood fashion, the musical will come full circle: It’ll soon be adapted into a film. Paramount, which released the original movie, is onboard for the musical reboot.

“I’m very excited to bring ‘Mean Girls’ back to the big screen,” Fey told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I’ve spent 16 years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe, and I love them dearly.” O
