Singer And Actress Sara Bareilles Heads To BB&T Center

by

Sara Bareilles prefers to keep things low-key. But that out-of-the-limelight philosophy hasn’t hurt her career one iota.

The Grammy-nominated musician, songwriter and actress – who worked at a petting zoo, as a pizza maker and as a waitress before finding her claim to fame – brings her immense talent to the BB&T Center in Sunrise on Nov. 23 at 8 p.m.

She’ll be celebrating the release of her fifth album, “Amidst the Chaos.” But you might also recognize her as the star, composer and lyricist of the hit Broadway musical “Waitress”; Ariel in Disney’s live performance of “The Little Mermaid”; or Mary Magdalene in NBC’s “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

Songwriting might appear to come easily to Bareilles, but it’s not always simple, she admits to People: “I rewrote the opening number to ‘Waitress’ about 40 times, and it was literally days before opening when I finally added a new little B section that made the chorus feel like it was doing the thing it needed to do. I was in tears when we finally got the green light.”

Bareilles – who is involved in many charitable causes, including Save the Music, Augie’s Quest, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Just Be campaign – will be sharing the stage with fellow singer-songwriter Emily King, who fuses R&B, soul and jazz.

“Rocking a fauxhawk bouffant and a watercolor-painted guitar, King always impresses with her inimitable style and vocal prowess. King proves her sound is diverse as ever, and fans can hear it on full display as she warms up the stage for Sara Bareilles on a number of tour dates,” notes a tour promo. O
