Vintage Auto Show Rides Into Deering Estate in Miami

by

The Deering Estate – once the home of preservationist and philanthropist Charles Deering - is a fitting venue for the 8th Annual Vintage Auto Show on Jan. 10.

After all, Deering was the first chairman of the International Harvester Company – which, among other things, manufactured agricultural equipment, automobiles and commercial trucks.

The event, in collaboration with the Antique Automobile Club of America South Florida Region, will showcase a variety of vintage cars on the historic grounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also on display: the estate’s 1950 International Harvester Truck. There are plenty of other things to do during the event: Join a nature preserve tour, take a self-guided trek on one of the nature trails or rent a kayak and enjoy Biscayne Bay where you can explore mangroves and more.

The Deering Estate is home to more than 170 resident and migratory bird species, archaeological sites and seven native Florida habitats.

Later in the month, the estate hosts a two-day, plein-air art exhibit. The juried event is scheduled for Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
