The Greatest Show Above The Earth

Memorial Day is traditionally a time for barbecues and family gatherings, but this year, there’s another event to put on your calendar: The National Salute To America’s Heroes.

The two-day Air & Sea Show, which takes place in Miami Beach May 29-30, features parachuters, interactive displays, tactical training equipment, an air show, a jet ski exhibition, an offshore powerboat exhibition — and more.

Its goal is just as impressive. “The mission of the National Salute to America’s Heroes is to bring back the true meaning and spirit of Memorial Day weekend and pay tribute to all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our freedom,” explains a press release. “‘The Greatest Show Above the Earth’ showcases the men, women, state-of-the-art technology and equipment from all five branches of the United States Military as well as our first responder agencies.”

Also on tap: military recruiting exhibits and Display Village, a four-block interactive display where visitors can meet armed force members, see U.S. Air Force flight and navigation simulators, U.S. Army tactical training equipment, U.S. Marine Corps rifle range simulators as well as displays depicting the work of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard. 

“There is no better time than Memorial Day weekend to pay tribute to our military, first responders, and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our freedom,” Mickey Markoff, the event’s executive producer, said in a press release.

Masks and social distancing are required.
