by

If you could turn back time.

It’s possible at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, beginning Oct. 16. That’s when the world premiere exhibition of Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru begins.

What can visitors expect? “ Embark on a journey through time and discover a culture that thrived in a mythic world.  Explore the world premiere exhibition! Behold the marvels of engineering that sheltered a truly spiritual civilization and the ornate riches they once cherished,” explains the museum’s website. “In this dramatically staged expedition, the sounds of roaring jaguars, screaming macaws, and torrential rainfall are all around you as you unravel the mysteries of Andean cosmology and marvel at the sophistication of Andean artists.”

The immersive experience is designed to transport viewers in virtual reality to the Incan city of Machu Picchu where they will see nearly 200 artifacts from royal tombs, including items that belonged to Andean lords. Gold treasures galore will be on display along with items never seen before on tour.

This exhibition begins in Boca Raton, then embarks on a multi-country, world-wide tour. The museum closed from Sept. 6-Oct. 15 to prepare for the exhibit.
