Executive Chef Rob Goodhue brings to Hunters Run Country Club in Boynton Beach more than 30 years of extensive culinary experience from Palm Beach country clubs to prestigious venues such as Citronelle in Washington, DC, and Lespinasse in New York, NY. He describes his culinary style as “elegant simplicity.”

“The chefs that I worked with when I grew up were very intent on using the best ingredients without too much fussiness,” Goodhue explains. “Fresh, homemade pasta and short ribs, for example, can be elevated to a high level with few ingredients, as long as they’re composed with care.”

Add to that the influences of French and Italian chefs who taught him to work with the seasons, his Maryland roots (serving up true Chesapeake Crab Cakes, woodfired BBQ and fresh seafood), his focus on local ingredients and his “entertaining personality,” and you’ve captured Goodhue’s authentic ‘flavour.’

His talents go beyond the kitchen, where he enjoys ‘face time’ with members with cooking demos and at Club events. He even manages to record his own reels of behind-the-scenes clips and launched a Club podcast, called “Rare Talk with Chef Rob,” in August 2023 on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

“What I love best about Hunters Run is the team,” Goodhue points out. “Everyone has a single-minded vision of excellence and is always improving the operation.”

In addition to ‘Goody’s’ restaurant on wheels, like “Goody’s On Tap,” he’s excited about another new addition at the Club: an upscale restaurant opening in November with Coastal, Italian influences.

Goodhue feels that he was destined to become a chef. He fell in love with the pace of working at a restaurant, the excitement of service, and the camaraderie of the team.

Explains Goodhue, “Everyone can just be themselves in the kitchen, even if they’re a dishwasher, which is what I was when I started out.”

“I hope to inspire the next generation and be an example that you can have a culinary career and work-life balance.”
