Holly Fortunato started her career in interior design at former department store Jordan Marsh, which was at the Boca Raton Town Center.

“After I got my degree in interior design, I was in the design department at Jordan Marsh for three years and then moved over to Interiors by Brown in 1987 and really grew with the firm,” Fortunato says. “We’re responsible for so much more now than we were when I first started.”

At Interiors by Brown, Fortunato handles full-service interior design with clients that start before walls are even put up at a new home.

Fortunato’s niche is offering an invaluable design eye for clients who are in the process of building new homes or undergoing major renovations for an ideal flow and function.

Coordinated through architects and builders, her ideas have included unique ceiling details, recessed lighting locations, ideal placement of walls, cabinet built-ins, a kitchen island, even the stairs.

“I like being there at the beginning of the build, otherwise it might be too late to change or add these things for instance electrical, cabinet layout and window placement,” says Fortunato.

Interiors by Brown is a full-service interior design firm in both residential, hospitality and commercial design, with a 10,000 square-foot showroom and design center open to the public filled with curated vignettes that showcase their favorite pieces and fabrics.

Everything is coordinated in-house, including installations and in-house delivery drivers who bring products from the Interiors by Brown warehouse to the client’s home for the utmost in quality control. Products are sourced only from esteemed vendors and manufacturers.

She said her favorite part of the job is the relationships formed with clients — with many repeat clients who use Interiors by Brown when they move or purchase a vacation home.

“I love to understand how clients are going to live in the house. We talk about the experiences they want to have in the home,” Fortunato says. “We’re designing for how they want to live in their home and it’s an incredibly unique experience.”
