Jody Petiya, director of residential interior design at Interiors By Brown in Boca Raton, can be comparable to the coach of a sports team. Though she works behind the scenes with her staff, her leadership role is critical to the business’ success.

Petiya oversees the firm’s designers on their projects in her role. She addresses design questions and any issues that arise about a project.

“She is a mentor and a huge asset to our team,” says Susan Brown Siegel, director of marketing.

Petiya, who has been with the firm for nearly 30 years, meets with designers regularly to review projects.

She also speaks to potential new clients about the firm’s services and helps set them up with one of their nine designers. Since every designer at the firm has his or her own style and approach, Petiya speaks to homeowners about their needs and the scope of their project.

“Any new client who calls or we take on speaks to her,” says Brown Siegel. “She talks to them to understand what they’re looking for.” She assesses designers’ workloads and sees who the best fit will be. That way she can pair them with the appropriate designer to create their custom dream house. “It’s quite a process for her to figure all that out.”

She takes a project from construction through completion — considering the architecture, interior detailing, furnishings and the environment.

“We’re focused on customer service and always put the client first,” Petiya says. You’ll deal with one designer who will orchestrate your project. Still, it’s a team effort, involving the office, the warehouse, CAD (computer-aided design) designers and management.

“We focus on your design experience process from selection to delivery,” she says. “That’s where we excel.”

Petiya earned a bachelor’s degree in interior design at the University of Florida’s College of Architecture. She is a licensed interior designer and member of ASID. Petiya keeps current with the latest trends and newest products by frequenting High Point Market and continuing education classes throughout the year.
