Skin Cancer Solution

A diagnosis of skin cancer can be terrifying, but, thanks to Boca Raton company Sensus Healthcare, a painless “peace of mind” treatment is just a call – and a doctor’s visit – away.  

This highly effective, nonsurgical skin cancer treatment is an alternative to surgery and delivers a precise, calibrated dose of Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT) using SRT-100 that only penetrates the top 5 millimeters of the surface of the skin. So, patients can be safely treated in their physician’s office.

“More than 50 hospitals, including Mount Sinai in Miami, have our machines throughout the country,” Sardano says. “We strongly urge patients to look for a Mohs surgeon who also does SRT. That’s the best choice.”

He adds that patients with certain pre-existing conditions are ideal candidates for SRT.

“Patients who are diabetic (and have a higher chance of infection), patients who are on blood thinners (and take a longer time to heal) and patients who are aged 65 and older whose scalps and lower legs are thin-skinned (and are difficult to stitch up) can all benefit from SRT, as opposed to Mohs surgery.”

And, because 99 percent of skin cancer patients are at least 65 years old, the good news is that SRT treatment is covered by Medicare. 

“We have FDA clearance to treat non-melanoma skin cancers throughout the body – 80 percent are on your face, head and neck, and 31 percent are on the tip of your nose,” says Sardano. “Most patients have treatment two to three times a week for an average of three or four weeks.”
