Periodontics and Implant Dentistry

South Florida Center for Periodontics & Implant Dentistry in Boca Raton has a dominant patient philosophy. “Everyone leaves with teeth,” says Frederic J. Norkin, D.M.D., a board-certified periodontist. “We keep an eye on the latest research and studies. We’re early adopters of predictable procedures that constantly advance the way we deliver treatment.”

In fact, Dr. Norkin applied that philosophy to a recent patient from Wounded Veterans Relief Fund — a charitable organization that he partners with to provide care for underserved veterans. Nearly all the patient’s teeth were broken near the gum line. He could only eat soft foods and rarely smiled. Other dentists had told him that he didn’t have enough jawbone for dental implants and needed dentures

instead. Using Yomi® robotic implant surgery, Dr. Norkin and his team maximized the remaining bone, allowing the patient to have his failing teeth replaced with dental implants and immediate temporaries that don’t come out. “He looked in the mirror when the temporary teeth were screwed in and had tears of joy. Everyone denied it could be done. He gave me a hug and walked out with a new smile and confidence,” says Dr. Norkin. “We exceeded the patient’s expectations, correcting years of neglect, fear and infection in one visit.”

Dr. Norkin’s areas of interest and treatment include minimally invasive periodontal surgical techniques to regenerate bone and soft (gum) tissue and early and immediate loading of dental implants.

“We take on the most difficult cases and make them predictable, oftentimes when other doctors tell patients something cannot be done. We are problem solvers.” That go-getter attitude is just what sets the practice apart from others. “We have a reputation for successfully taking on the most complex cases in the community.”

After earning his B.A. from Emory University, Dr. Norkin earned his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed a general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Miami. Dr. Norkin then received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Periodontology from Nova Southeastern University. He remained as an adjunct professor there for more than 12 years, all while maintaining his full-time private practice.

Dr. Norkin is a fellow of the International Team for Implantology and is an accomplished lecturer and author, publishing original research on various clinical topics.
