"Quality” and “uniqueness” are two words close to Vadim Krivitsky’s heart – and the keys to his success in business. As the owner of Oakgem Fine Estate & Designer Jewelry in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park, he specializes in selling fine estate jewelry, unusual estate jewelry and jewelry with brand-name recognition.

“I’ve been in business since 1983 and selling online since 1998, and our website is about 12 years old,” he says. “We buy selective pieces, not generic, and price secondhand jewelry for what the market can bear.”

Even the name Oakgem, which stands for “one-of-a-kind” jewelry, reflects the way Krivitsky chooses his merchandise.  

Years of experience in the business – buying jewelry from the clients of retailers like Bailey, Banks & Biddle and J.E. Caldwell – have led the Ukrainian-born jeweler to where he is today. 

“We have completed more than 20,000 transactions online and have a 100 percent positive feedback rating,” Krivitsky says. “On ResellerRatings.com [where consumers submit ratings and reviews of online retailers], we have a 9.9 positive rating. We have an A rating from the Better Business Bureau and are members of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.”

Great prices, great selection and great customer service are most likely the reasons for Oakgem’s high marks and prominence in the community. The company’s most popular and sought-after lines of jewelry include David Webb (“We’re planning to be an authorized dealer,” Krivitsky notes) and Seaman Schepps, with new arrivals like the Torchon Carved Crystal Diamond Gold Necklace Suite and the Rio Blue Multi-Gemstone Diamond Gold Bracelet.

Krivitsky started out in the business in 1983, when he opened a small jewelry store in Pennsylvania. Now, he lives both in that state (his original Oakgem store is located in Bucks County) and in Boca Raton. He debuted his local store in December. 

“One of the reasons I opened my store in Mizner Park in Boca Raton is because we have a lot of clients reaching out to us to purchase their estate jewelry,” he says. “We specialize in buying preowned jewelry from the general public.”

For the past 10 years, Krivitsky has joined forces with his chief operating officer, Steven Chernoff, and, more recently, his daughter, Sasha, to make Oakgem the premier name in fine estate and designer jewelry. O
