Friendly. Thorough. Attentive. Responsive. Caring. These and other glowing and positive adjectives are how patient reviews describe

Sol V. Guerrero, M.D. A board-certified endocrinologist with Palm Beach Health Network Physician Group in Boca Raton, she specializes in treating diabetes, thyroid disease, thyroid cancer, in-office thyroid biopsy, adrenal disorders, parathyroid disorders, osteoporosis and pituitary disorders.

Dr. Guerrero explains that endocrinologists are specialists who study glands and hormones needed for everyday survival and function. Those body parts control many different functions such as metabolism, body temperature, hunger, blood pressure, growth, temperature and mood. “I like the complexity of the human body,” says Dr. Guerrero.

“For thyroid cancer, the main treatment is surgery,” she says. Some cases require further treatment, such as radioactive iodine ablation therapy, which is done after surgery. The long-term outlook for most thyroid cancer patients is positive.

Endocrine and metabolic disorders require careful monitoring. Dr. Guerrero sees many patients regularly, developing professional and personal relationships with them. “I try to treat every patient as a unique person. It’s not just about their disease. I build relationships and trust. We also talk about managing weight, maintaining a healthy diet and keeping an active lifestyle,” she says.

A native of the Dominican Republic, she grew up in South Florida. Dr. Guerrero has been practicing endocrinology for more than a decade. She attended medical school and did her clinical rotation at St. Christopher’s College of Medicine. She completed her internship, residency and fellowship at Medical College of Georgia. A mother of three, she moved to the Boca Raton area in 2014. “Being a physician for me has always been about helping people,” says Dr. Guerrero. “It is rewarding to try to make a difference in people’s health and many times form long-lasting connections with these patients.”

Dr. Guerrero is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the Southern Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
