Dr. Norton and Dr. Alam are also experts in kyphoplasty, an office-based procedure for spinal compression fractures, like those caused by osteoporosis. In ten minutes or less, a patient’s spinal compression fractures are stabilized and are free of pain.
Committed to continued advocacy for his patients, Dr. Norton is spearheading a project that will bring a new medical campus to West Delray in 2025. Occupying an 11-acre site, the physician led specialty center will consist of a medical office building, an inpatient specialty hospital and a 23-hour ambulatory surgery center. Focusing on neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery, the goal is to provide patients the excellent quality of care they need and deserve in a state-of-the-art facility. “A specialty care facility with dedicated specialty teams results in less complications, shorter hospital stays and overall better patient outcomes; it’s why I am behind this project,” says Dr. Norton.
At the end of the day, it’s the hugs and feedback from grateful patients that Drs. Alam and Norton find most gratifying. “Every day I see the results of my work in my patients’ smiles. When you can give someone back their quality of life, take away their pain or correct a neurologic deficit, it’s incredibly rewarding,” says Dr. Alam.
