The Perfect Summer Treat

Strawberries are a favorite summer fruit and for good reasons too. Considered the “Queen of berries,” they are packed with nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants that provide great health benefits and can even help prevent the development of some diseases, as covered in our June/July issue

Strawberries are about 92% water, making them a great (and tasty) way to stay hydrated for the summer. They’re versatile too, with endless recipes ranging from sweet to savory, you can enjoy them in a healthy salad, in yogurt or as a scrumptious dessert. With the heat index on the rise, something cold and refreshing like frozen strawberry pops is a great summer snack. This recipe might surprise you for its simplicity and healthiness. Keep these stocked in your freezer for a quick and refreshing treat for the kids or yourself.   

Frozen Strawberry Pops 

Makes 8 popsicles 

Things you'll need: 

Ingredients:  

Steps:  

1. Make the strawberry puree  

2. Add the frozen strawberries, frozen puree and ⅓ cup water into a blender. 

3. Blend until all the ingredients are well incorporated. 

4. Scoop or pour the strawberry blend into popsicle molds  

5. Place lid on the popsicle mold and add wooden craft sticks about ⅔ down. 

6. Place popsicle mold into the freezer to set, about 5 hours or overnight. 

7. Gently run warm water on the back of the mold to remove the popsicles. 

This recipe is great to keep handy for summer because there is no added sugar and it’ll keep you cool all summer long.
