Miramar-Based Airline Donates More Than $200,000

by

Spirit Airlines knows about the spirit of giving. The Miramar-based airline announced plans to finish up the second half of 2021 donating more than $200,000, alongside ticket donations and program sponsorships to 17 nonprofits. The airline has had a longstanding commitment to give back through its Corporate Social Responsibility and The Spirit Airlines Charitable Foundation. The foundation makes investments in organizations that impact the lives of children and families, education, the environment and military veterans through team member volunteerism as well as financial and in-kind donations.

Some of the larger organizations to benefit include the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. The funding will go toward supporting performance series benefiting Miami-Dade public schools; The American Red Cross, to help in the aftermath of earthquakes in Haiti and hurricane-ravaged Louisiana; Broward Center for the Performing Arts, to help Broward County school children take part in educational performances; Community Foundation of Broward, for its environmental philanthropy initiative; Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, for tree-planting events; and Latino Pilots Association for scholarships to educate and train future pilots.

“We believe that change starts by giving back and making a meaningful impact in people’s lives,” says Lania Rittenhouse, President of The Spirit Charitable Foundation and Vice President of Guest Experience and Brand for Spirit Airlines. “We are proud to support many esteemed organizations that work tirelessly to support those in need in our local community and beyond. As part of these charitable contributions, we will continue our commitment to our core areas of charitable support that mean so much to the entire Spirit Family.”
