The Broward Mental Health Summit 2021, presented by the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County, Memorial Healthcare System, UKG and Cassel & Cassel, brings together the leading mental health providers in South Florida from county, state and federal government, private practice, non-profits and academia to discuss and examine the current issues relating to mental health in Broward County.
The event, which will be held Sept. 9 at the Charles Dodge City Center in Pembroke Pines, will also be live-streamed for those who wish to attend virtually. This year’s theme is Bouncing Back Together and includes four subtopics: Wellness, Empowerment, Resilience and Connection.
The keynote speaker is Teen Mental Health Education Advocate Adam Avin, who created the Wuf Shanti Children’s Wellness Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to teach mindfulness and social emotional learning, so children ages 3-17 can live in health, wellness, peace and positivity.
To engage the youth, a video contest (“What does mental wellness represent to you?”), was held. The winning video will be shown at the summit and the winner will receive $500.
Sponsors will also have vendor tables set up in the lobby with resource information and more. The event registration is free. Breakfast is included with an option to purchase lunch (sponsorships include a lunch ticket).
