In recognition of Holocaust Survivor Day, celebrated worldwide on June 4, local Holocaust survivors in south Palm Beach County gathered June 5 at Temple Beth Shalom in Century Village, Boca Raton to celebrate their bravery, sacrifice and survival.
In their honor, Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services planned a special program called “Nosh & Nachas.” Translated literally, food and happiness is what this program brings to Holocaust survivors who reside in Boca Raton and Delray Beach and who are clients of the Rales JFS Senior Services Department.
Close to 100 people, including Holocaust survivors and guests, enjoyed a kosher lunch with musical entertainment. “Nosh & Nachas” provided Holocaust survivors the opportunity to socialize with each other, a truly meaningful and valuable experience that fostered kinship and improved their well-being.
The event was underwritten by Seed the Dream Foundation and Kavod Shef.
