The 16th Annual Go Pink Luncheon on Oct. 18 welcomes actor, comedian, producer, writer and physician Ken Jeong.
Hosted by Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, the luncheon is one of South Florida’s largest women’s health events, raising funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. All proceeds benefit cancer programs at the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute and the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health and Wellness Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.
Perhaps best recognized for his role as Mr. Chow in “The Hangover,” most fans would be surprised to learn it was a role Jeong almost turned down. At the time, his wife, Tran Ho, was battling an aggressive form of breast cancer while caring for their twin 1-year-old girls. Jeong’s wife encouraged him to take the role – which turned into a watershed moment for his career.
At the event, he will share his experience balancing the roles of caregiver, husband, father and actor. Today, Jeong seeks to empower women and men to be their own health care advocates, stressing the importance of screenings. His appearance is made possible thanks to the Edward and Freyda Burns Enhanced Living Initiative.
Louise Morrell, M.D., medical director of the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, will also be a featured speaker. Community philanthropist Patti Carpenter serves as luncheon chair and hosts the event, along with the Go Pink committee.
The event features a variety of fundraising initiatives, including the Saks Fifth Avenue Pink Daisy Pick Raffle. The grand prize is a Saks Fifth Avenue NY Fashion Week experience, courtesy of Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton. The luncheon will feature an amenity for each guest, the Wall of Strength for tributes and more. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink. O
