Lake Worth Playhouse Presents ‘5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche’ Nov. 1-10
Lake Worth Playhouse has announced the production of “5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche” as part of its 2024-2025 Black Box Series. Running from Nov. 1-10 at the intimate Stonzek Studio Theater, offering an interactive and up-close experience of the award-winning play.
“5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche,” which won Best Overall Production at the 2012 NYC International Fringe Festival, is a unique blend of humor and satire set against the backdrop of Cold War America in 1956. The story follows the fictional members of the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein as they gather for their annual Quiche Breakfast.
As the assembled widows — Elise Levine (Lulie Stanwyck), Beckie Jenek (Wren Robin), Clare Rearer (Ginny Cadbury), Jill Williams (Dale Prist) and Nancy Dickenson (Veronica "Vern" Schultz) — eagerly await the announcement of the society’s prized quiche, their serene gathering is abruptly interrupted by atomic bomb sirens, threatening their lives and the tranquil lifestyle of their idyllic town.
Written by playwrights Evan Linder and Andrew Hobgood, the production serves as a “tasty recipe of hysterical laughs, sexual innuendoes, unsuccessful repressions and delicious discoveries,” according to a press release. “With audience interaction (and yes, even quiche!), you will want to enjoy a night out with the widows of The Susan B. Anthony Society.”
