If they are famous and Jewish, Neil Keller likely knows who they are. And if they have any items associated with their name, such as trading cards, autographs or other memorabilia, Keller likely owns it. He claims to have “one of the largest Jewish memorabilia collections in the world.”
From Jan. 5 to Feb. 28, Keller will be displaying just some of the 22,000 pieces that he has gathered over the years at the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center in Boca Raton. “I have done other exhibits and given many speeches in the past, but this is the first time that I am showing the public my extremely rare Holocaust items of Jews in sports, says Keller. “I am excited to show these items to educate attendees about the evils when hate gets out of control.”
His interest began in 1987 when Keller obtained his first item — a 1961 Topps Sandy Koufax card — and snowballed from there. His website boasts photos of the many famous Jewish people he has met including the late Tony Curtis, who was born Bernard Schwartz to Hungarian-Jewish immigrants and Didi Conn, who played Frenchy in “Grease.”
