As more states legalize the use of cannabis for medical or recreational use — or both — keeping up with the changes isn’t always easy, and getting it wrong can cost you.
Florida Atlantic University Center for Online and Continuing Education in Boca Raton, in partnership with Green Flower, which provides a training platform built specifically for cannabis professionals, is offering a Cannabis Compliance and Risk Management Certificate.
There are three courses (each eight weeks long) that cover a wide range of topics including: navigating the changing regulatory environments, using track and trace systems, preventing money laundering and minimizing wasted products.
The course prepares students to take the Certified Commercial Cannabis Professional (CCCP) through the Association of Certified Commercial Cannabis Experts (ACCCE). As of this printing, 200 students have gone through the program.
It’s expected 428,000 jobs will be created in the cannabis industry this year according to Leafly. As of March 2023, there were 300 publicly traded cannabis companies in the U.S. and 28,000 companies worldwide. This includes dispensaries, cultivators, testing labs, etc.
The Office of Medical Marijuana Use in Florida estimates the number of active patients increased 71% from 455,425 in 2020 to 779,465 by the end of 2022.
