Florida Atlantic University takes student success to heart. And its cutting-edge, 166,000-square-foot Schmidt Family Complex for Academic and Athletic Excellence is no exception.
The new complex, opening this month, will offer a myriad of programs designed to help students – mind, body and soul. Case in point: The Student Success Center, the cornerstone of the project, comprises a career center, computer laboratories, two study hall rooms and services for students who need help with math classes. It will also offer academic advising, peer mentorship and more.
One-third of the complex will be devoted to the College of Business Executive Education degree programs, corporate training and non-credit professional development programs.
In addition, the full-size football field in the Field House indoor practice facility will allow athletes to practice during inclement weather, while the hydrotherapy room of the Sports Performance Center provides a respite with three pools, one of which features an underwater treadmill.
“Strength, nutrition and wellness converge to optimize excellence in the Sports Performance Center,” notes the university’s website. “Achieving success on a national level requires the best for our Owl athletes starting with the basics. From equipment to practice facilities, training to rehabilitation, film rooms to classrooms, the Schmidt Family Complex will help us become the nation’s epicenter of top-notch tools – and talent.”
