Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is this year’s site of the Super Bowl, marking the first time that Sin City will play host. The game will be played on Feb. 11.
Allegiant Stadium is relatively new, having opened in 2020, and can accommodate 65,000 fans. It boasts a retractable natural turf field for the NFL, an artificial turf playing surface for University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNVL), large operable walls that open to spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip, a translucent roof and a variety of premium spaces throughout all levels.
The stadium has earned the nickname “The Death Star” for its resemblance to the “Star Wars” space station of the same name.
For those who aren’t football fans, there’s still plenty of entertainment. Usher is set to perform at this year’s half-time show, and then there are the commercials — lots of them. By November, CBS (the network airing the game) had already sold out its ad slots, with a 30-second spot costing a whopping $7 million — not to mention the expenses of creating the spot and paying the talent.
One name you won’t see this year is General Motors. According to a report from Ad Age, the company is bowing out this year. Companies that have confirmed include Oreo and Coors Light.
And you can be assured that what happens in Vegas on Feb. 11 will not stay in Vegas.
