There’s luxury — and then there’s the singular, white glove experience at The General Contractors Design Group’s new Boca Raton showroom, where, according to founder and CEO Dylan Blake Kapneck, clients have the opportunity to curate their dream home from wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling.
The boutique company has three outposts in the South Florida area (two others are in Palm Beach and Miami), but Kapneck says the new Boca Raton location will serve as their diamond flagship.
“What we’re doing that hasn’t been done is a true design marketplace,” Kapneck explains. “We’re a duly licensed firm. So, not only can we do the design implementation, the architectural planning, the furniture layouts and the floor plans to scale, we also specialize in the constructing and general contracting.” And forget about look books, Kapneck says every product line is in-house or readily available on a state-of-the art virtual video wall. “Within our new diamond flagship, we’ve been able to showcase an enormous amount of merchandise. We also have an incredible reality concept where you can literally design a space from start to finish” — whether it’s an entire home, a new kitchen, a furniture piece or even an area rug, there’s an endless selection of high-end materials to choose from. You can then feel, touch and experience the finishes physically there. “We can pull up a raw space and design it with you in real time while you’re sitting with us, enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.”
Kapneck grew up in the business and eventually, after graduating from business school and taking the reins himself, he absorbed everything the industry had to offer and grew the business to an award-winning remodeling company. “I grew up going to supply houses and international manufactures,” he recalls, “Because of our roots, we’ve been able to establish ourselves as authorized dealers of over 100 different product lines.”
“Typically,” he continues, “you’re going to a store and purchasing different materials, then hiring an interior designer, a builder and a contractor. Before you know it, you have all these different elements that are being coordinated independently, with the hope of success. What I hear the most is people telling me, ‘Oh my god, I just did my home, and it was a nightmare. The designer implemented their designs and the contractor had no idea how to do them.’ What we’ve done is created a truly unique concept where — under one roof —it’s the one-stop shopping experience. With an array of some of the finest materials in the industry and our in-house design team of trained professionals, we have the where with all to properly construct them, creating true works of art.”
Just don’t expect to pull up unannounced. Showroom visits are by appointment only to guarantee unparalleled customer service. “There’s no other company quite like ours where you can design an entire home,” Kapneck notes proudly. “We have all the different departments for every facet of your project. From the flooring and cabinetry all the way to the final stage of selecting your furniture and window treatment. We even have an amazing array of fine art from Andy Warhol to Keith Haring. There’s something for everyone and it’s all under one roof. It’s a revolutionary concept for the industry.”
Most importantly, he emphasizes, “We want all of our projects to be what we call a timeless design. We don’t follow the trends, we prefer to set them.”
