Julia Roberts once humbly proclaimed, “I’m just an ordinary person who has an extraordinary job.”
Echoing that statement, I am thankful for all the ordinary folks who are hard at work. It’s through the incredible efforts of actors and musicians who create, produce and perform extraordinary content that our world and our personal lives are enriched with more joy.
This month’s June/July Entertainment Issue is all about honoring such talented artists. Leading the celebration, we spotlight the amazing Sebastian Maniscalco. Our feature, “Fabulous Funnyman” (page 60), explores his impressive journey from stand-up comedian to the acclaimed icon he has become.
For many, summertime signifies vacation, embracing the warmth (or in our case, the scorching heat!) and cherishing moments with family. And what better way to make summer memories with family and friends than at a music festival? Each one offers a unique and talent-filled experience, and with the arrival of summer, you’ll discover a plethora to explore. “Festival Fever” (page 66) simplifies your search by highlighting the ones you won’t want to miss.
Speaking of things you can’t miss, raise your hand if you’re addicted to a reality TV show (guilty as charged). Whether it’s the tension between contestants, disputes among friends or surprise eliminations, these moments of intense drama are irresistibly engaging. “Reality Reigns” (page 72) takes a closer look why.
After beginning with a well-celebrated star, it feels right to conclude with a glimpse into the future of cinema. Our piece “Tomorrow’s Stars Today” (page 78) showcases emerging talents you’ll want to keep an eye on. Who knows, one of them may just be the next Robert De Niro or Meryl Streep!
To cap off, I seize this moment to honor the real-life luminaries — fathers who brighten the lives of their children — wishing them a heartfelt Happy Father’s Day on June 16.
May your day be filled with celebration!
All the best,
Linda L. Behmoiras
