Celebrating the Strength, Courage and Determination of Women
AVDA's Heart of a Woman Luncheon celebrates the Strength, Courage and Determination of Women. This lovely event raises funds to support AVDA’s critical and life-saving programs, including the emergency shelter and transitional housing at Casa Vegso, the 24- hour crisis hotline, outreach, and legal advocacy as well as the training and violence prevention education programs. This year's speaker will be Mildred Muhammad. She is a Multi-Award Winning Global Keynote Speaker, International Expert Speaker for the US Dept. of State, and Certified Consultant with the US Dept. of Justice/Office for Victims of Crime. She travels and speaks on a global platform as the ex-wife of the DC Sniper to discuss her life of terror, abuse, and heartbreak, all while promoting Domestic Abuse/Violence Awareness and Prevention. She is recognized as "One of the Nation's most powerful advocates for victims and survivors of domestic violence".
