JAIALAI
Join us in celebrating the release of Jaialai’s new EP, As Sweet As I Was. Since 2016, Jaialai has performed some of Miami’s most memorable shows with its psychedelic blend of krautrock, shoegaze and garage rock. Featuring members from Venezuela, El Salvador and of Cuban heritage, this four-piece band comprises Jose “Jovi” Adames (guitar/vocals), Richard Boullon (drums/percussion), Mario Lemus (bass) and Oscar Sardiñas (guitar/vocals).
There’s a sense of urgency in Jaialai’s music, a modern take on shoegaze and psychedelia but also the first-generation immigrant experience. Themes of freedom, intensity, anxiety and pressure are evident in their music. Their musical influences can be attributed to bands like The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Deerhunter and Can.
Jaialai’s latest single, “Vesuvius,” is available now on all streaming platforms. You won’t want to miss Jaialai’s first live performance of their newest songs on March 26!
Live on the Plaza is a series of outdoor, socially distanced performances on our Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza for the Arts.
