Give a Hoot for Self-Help International by helping women in Ghana and Nicaragua start and grow their own businesses. Self Help works to support women business owners in rural communities by providing low interest micro-loans. Oftentimes, women in these small communities are not eligible to receive loans through formal banks and sometimes end up taking loans with predatory lenders. By having access to capital through Self-Help, women are able to start and invest in their businesses. In tandem with providing micro-loans, Self Help offers training sessions to help women improve their business practices so they can grow their incomes. Women are powerful agents for changes, and when you invest in them, they are able to lift up their families and communities. Economically empowered women empower others. It’s crucial to help women invest in their businesses. For more information on Self-Help International visit selfhelpinternational.org.
South Florida Hooters is supporting this great cause in memory of the late Dave “Lags” Lageschulte, Hooters franchise owner, Waverly native, and long-time supporter of Self-Help International.
“South Florida Hooters has supported Self-Help International for more than 12 years. The support began because the late Dave "Lags" Lageschulte, founder of South Florida Hooters was from the same small town, Waverly, IA, where Self Help International was founded. Lags and his family supported Self-Help from its inception. South Florida Hooters has sent Hooters Calendar Girls to the Give a Hoot Weekend and we are so proud of the Hooters Girls and their fundraising efforts to empower women business owners and for those returning to raise more funds then the year prior,” said LTP Management Director of Marketing Kristi Quarles.
“I could not be more excited to be invited back to Iowa this year to help raise money for Self Help International. Last year was my first time fundraising for this amazing organization and it was also my first visit to Iowa. It was truly a life changing experience to meet such incredible, selfless people and to stand alongside them sharing efforts to help those in need. I feel so honored to be able to participate again this summer. I hope that we can go above and beyond what we were able to accomplish last year,” said Grace Burchett who works at the Naples Hooters location and will also be representing Southwest Florida in the upcoming Miss Hooters International Pageant on August 3rd.
“I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to help raise money for Self Help International. This will be my first year being a part of Self Help international. I cannot wait to raise more than $50,000 to help women with business loans in Ghana and children’s feeding programs in Nicaragua. Growing up I went on an amazing trip to Nicaragua with my family and it was truly life changing. I cannot wait to do my part,” Gracie Williams who works at both Weston and Beach Place Hooters and will also be representing South Florida in the upcoming Miss Hooters International Pageant.
“This will be my first year going to Iowa to help raise money for Self Help International. I’m so beyond filled with joy that I am able to make a difference in someone around the world's life. It’s such an amazing thing to be able to be a part of and I’m so thankful for LTP Management to make this possible for us girls to do things like Self Help International,” said Sarah Magda who works at Sarasota Hooters.
“Being able to go to Iowa with Hooters is not only something that fills me with excitement but it is an absolute honor to get to embrace the opportunity to raise funds for Self Help international. This is my first year, and words cannot describe how blessed I feel to be able to go on this trip to contribute to such a noble cause, especially with an amazing company that is always finding ways to make a lasting impact within the community. Can’t wait to come together, unite our efforts, and empower communities through our collective generosity,” said Daniela Sosa who works at Port Charlotte Hooters.
“This being my first year, I am so beyond grateful and excited to have been chosen to go to Iowa to raise money for Self Help International because it’s a chance to spread kindness and use our support for the good of others! Giving one’s effort for the good of others is what I believe we’re called to do,” said Abby Fuqua who works at Boca Raton Hooters.
“I am so excited to participate this year at the Self Help International golf tournament, this will be my second year attending the fundraiser and I couldn’t be more proud to raise money for such a good cause! This year I plan on surpassing my previous year's goal. I can’t wait,” said Tara Archer who works at Fort Myers Hooters.
“I am beyond grateful to be a part of this year's Self Help International Golf Tournament. This will be my first year to represent and support the fundraiser so I am extremely eager to see what this year brings,” said Emily Shaffer who works at Fort Myers Hooters.
