PERFORMER BIO
Orquesta Inmensidad was founded in 1980 in the city of Miami, Florida USA, by the Director Raul Gallimore. Its first vocalists were the Panamanians Sócrates Lazo Y Junior (Pangarita) Carrasquilla, then Rubén Yindo Rodríguez and Roberto Blades, with whom The Orchestra officially launched. The Orchestra began by performing at different nightclubs, capturing the attention of the public with its youthful appearance and interpretation of songs with a romantic aspect, to the rhythm of a soft, delicate and subtle guaracha.
After a concert with the Stars of Fania at the Dinner Key Auditorium in Miami, the Orchestra was signed by Jerry Masucci on the Fania label. Its first production “INMENSIDAD” was recorded in New York City at the studios of La Tierra Sound under the supervision of Maestro Johnny Pacheco and Maestro Javier Vázquez. This production was the springboard that put them on the artistic map, with the hit, Ya No Regreso Contigo, which topped the charts in Puerto Rico and in the salsa cities in the United States and Latin America. Songs like El Que Mas Goza impacted by the vocal timbre of Yindo Rodríguez and by the danceable sound, led to this album achieving a record of Gold in sales. The following year they recorded what would be one of their most successful albums “ALEGRIA.” This album features two of their biggest hits Lagrimas vocalized by Roberto Blades and Lo Siento Mi Amor, which some consider to be the first manifestation of erotic salsa, vocalized by Raul Gallimore. This album holds Gold and Platinum records. Next, the Orquesta Inmensidad released “LA SALSA DE HOY”, containing lyrically the best themes of all their productions with songs such as Detalles, Artista Famosa, Diana, and Heroes. These hits complemented this production, which also achieved Gold and Platinum. That record was the last of Roberto Blades with the Orchestra.
Then in 1985 came what many consider to be one of their best productions “CON AMOR Y CARIÑO”, and in 1987, the album that reconsecrated them “ALEGRANDO AL MUNDO” containing the hit Te Pareces Tanto a Mi, which quickly placed in the top sales for Latin music in the US and Puerto Rico. His last production under the Fania label was Un Nuevo Amanecer, featuring hits Quise ser Luz & Balada de un Padre. Then came yet another production titled El Sabor Del Pueblo, under his new label ESM Records.
The band’s most recent production is called Positivo, released in 2019 and contains 8 songs, mostly originals. This production is a continuation to the previously released album El Sabor del Pueblo which was a great success internationally.
Positivo maintained the classic Orquesta Inmensidad sound but with a more street aggressive beat. Songs like Ven Rumbero have a classic 1950s mambo beat that will get you out of your seat.
