NEW SEASON OF FREE FUN “CENTENNIAL” SATURDAYS

First Saturday of Each Month,

Free Family Craft Activities from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA (August 13, 2024) – The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum, 71 N. Federal Highway, has announced a new season of Free Fun Saturdays September through November, themed around the museum’s special upcoming exhibit, “Boca Raton 1925-2025: Addison Mizner’s Legacy,” on display starting November 13 and the City of Boca Raton’s centennial celebration.

Free Fun Saturdays are hosted at the museum on the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and include free admission for all visitors and a free children’s craft activity led by local artist and author Michelle Sherman, starting at 2 p.m.

Craft activities include:

Saturday, September 7 at 2 p.m.

Following the reading of “Addison Mizner: Visionary Architect,” make a Paper Stuffy like one of Mizner’s pets.

Saturday, October 5 at 2 p.m.

Design and draw the façade of a building in Mediterranean Revival or Mission-style architecture.

Saturday, November 2 at 2 p.m.

Learn how to draw and design a Mizner planter in one-point perspective with a plant on top.

This installment of Free Fun Saturdays is a prelude to the museum’s major exhibition celebrating the city’s centennial, “Boca Raton 1925-2025: Addison Mizner’s Legacy,” on display from November 13 – May 30, 2025. The multi-media showcase will highlight Boca Raton’s past century of development that began when Addison Mizner’s skill and vision as an architect, city planner, and industrialist produced the innovative and enduring designs that created Boca Raton, one of the world’s ultimate resort destinations and residential communities.
